18th CEEDPA SARAJEVO 2016

Dear colleagues,

It was a pleasure for Personal Data Protection Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina to be a host of this year's Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) Conference, which was held on 11 - 12 May 2016 in Sarajevo.

I will use this opportunity to thank you for your attendance and active participation in 18th CEEDPA Conference. I am sure that this work meeting has provided a good opportunity for practical experiences exchange through selected current topics, as well as a possibility for cooperation and development of a unique privacy and personal data protection approach. It was our pleasure to get aquainted with work experiences and ways of solving certain problems in the field of data protection in your countries through your presentations. We are happy for having the opportunity to meet you and to spend time with you in our country. 

We are glad that this year’s Conference gathered 52 participants and we are especially grateful to all participants (34 persons) who have come from 16 CEEDPA members countries. We owe special thanks for participation in Conference to Ms. Sophie Kwasny, Head of the Data Protection Unit, Council of Europe, who gave an excellent presentation, as well as to Mr. Giovanni Buttarelli, European Data Protection Supervisor, who took the time to address the participants via video. 

We are happy and grateful that 18 speakers from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo , Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia prepared presentations on selected current themes and shared their practical experiences and operational experiences related to privacy implementation. 
We believe that it is thanks to you this 18th CEEDPA meeting was successful.

At the request of Armenian Personal Data Protection Agency addressed to CEEDPA Secretariat, based in GIODO, the Declaration of New Member - Armenia was adopted, and it became the 20th member of Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities - CEEDPA.

The representatives of Georgia, to the satisfaction of all the participating countries of the Conference, have announced Georgia to host the next 19th CEEDPA Conference.

I hope you all had a pleasant stay in Sarajevo. I also hope that 18th CEEDPA Conference was productive, informative and interesting. Thanks to all who participated.

The announcement was already made at the previous 2015 CEEDPA - Conference of Data Protection Authorities in Central and Eastern Europe held in Durres (Albania) that the next event would be hosted by the Personal Data Protection Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As Director of the Personal Data Protection Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am delighted to invite you to come and join us on 11-12 May 2016 in Sarajevo at the 18th CEEDPA Conference.

We hope that you will be able join us and we look forward to seeing you in May. I am confirmed that such events, like this, are essential in order to discuss and highlight our common problems in the sphere of privacy and data protection and to share our experience and findings in this field.

Detailed information about the event (Conference venue, accommodation, draft program etc.) will be made available in due course.
